All who worked on this website have really done a wonderful job. I'm sure a lot of people won't remember me as I didn't get into a lot of school functions, and spent my senior year on the work program. I met my husband when I was only 16, was engaged at 17, graduated , turned 18 in June and was married in August. We have a son and a daughter, and two grandsons, one in college right now, and one is only 11 going on 18. We have always had our own businesses, and I worked as bookkeeper for our company, except for 5 years managing an off-sale liquor store, oops, thought liquor stores made money. Our son was born in 1964, and my husband started a machine shop. In 1968 our daughter was born and we invested in apartment buildings. We bought a farm in Dayton, MN. in 1976, thought farmers made money too, ha ha! While totally refurbishing the old farm house, we still had the apartments, the liquor store, and the machine shop, and also making time to run kids to softball and tennis . I wish I had half of that energy now! The farm was a great learning experience for all of us, and glad we did it. In 200l, my husband turned over the shop to our son, and I turned over my desk to our daughter, and we started spending portions of the winter in AZ. In 2005, we bought a house in Green Valley, AZ, south of Tucson, and now spend October to April there. It's a retirement community with lots of golf courses, which we love, and it's amazing how many Minnesotans we have met here. There are Rec centers for every development, with swimming pools, which I enjoy, and many other activities. If one gets bored here, it's their own fault. So, therefore, starting out with a single Mom, not a lot of money, no option for college, or the dancing school that I wanted to go to, my life has turned out to be pretty great. I haven't been to any reunions mainly because most of them have fallen on our Wedding anniversary, and this year we will be celebrating our 50th. Again, great job on this website, and I hope everyone has a great reunion. |

In December, 1969, I married Bernice Kaver from New York City. We have lived in St. Louis Park since 1971. Our daughter Penny "Flip" was born in 1972. She's married to Troy Brigham and they have a daughter Scout who was born in 2009. Our son Tom was born in 1975. All our children are living in the Portland, Oregon area. I received a BMath '65 and MS in Math '67 from the University of Minnesota. I worked as a computer programmer at the University of Minnesota in the large scientific and educational computer center for 25 years full-time plus 4-1/2 years part-time as a student. Later, I did computer work at Jostens (the class ring manufacturer) for 12 years. After I retired in 2009, I became an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Mpls. Federation for Jewish Service, Beth El Synagogue and occasionally for other groups. I remain an avid stamp collector and all-around handyman. I regularly drive by the old neighborhood after working at Habitat projects nearby. Many of the buildings and all the memories are still there. I've been keeping track of the North High Class of 1961 alumni for a number of years on a computer database. Thanks to the hard work of Phyllis Smiley Brown, that information has been the starting point for this wonderful web site.
