Comment: I've been very happily married for 48 years this month to my best friend in the world. We have 3 super kids, 5 grand children and 3 great-grand children. I  worked for the same company (Seagate Technology) for 31 years and retired in December. I was very fortunite in my job to have traveled extensively to the far east. Primarily, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia,and Taiwan as well as the U.S.. I'm about traveled out, so no major travel plans after retirement. Just going to enjoy our place up north.

Comment:    After graduation from North I worked at Red Owl (wow - that takes you back), then started working as a secretary at the School of Public Health at the U of M. Got married and divorced. Had a couple of dogs Rover and Bridgett. My way of means then went toward non-profits: the Urban Coalition of Minneapolis and the Twin Cities Neighborhood Housing Services.

   I am blessed to have a fabulous daughter and a delightful eight year old grandson.

   I graduated from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design with a major in fashion design and a minor in oil painting. Not able to figure out how to get steady income from my art, I went back to office management and being a secretary.

   I retired from the Minneapolis Public Schools at 65, and am a breast cancer survivor of almost five years. My volunteer work includes working with a foreclosure prevention organization called Northside Community Reinvestment Coalition and my church (Fellowship) nursery. I belong to a cancer support group called African American Breast Cancer Alliance, Inc. I enjoy playing Bid Whist.

   Most of my family lives in Minnesota and are a big part of my life.

Moved to the Los Angeles area in 1968. Married Jim Barnes (electronic engineer/computer consultant) in 1976--no children. Have lived in Lakewood, CA  (just north of Long Beach) for 27 years. First worked as a legal secretary, then owed a secretarial/virtual assistant business for 23 years. Returned to legal secretarial work for 5 years; am currently unemployed. For 22 years have been involved in the Long Beach Committee of 300, a volunteer group associated with the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Will be on the board of directors as corporate secretary this year. My passion is clog dancing. Usually I dance twice a week and attend monthly dances.  Also involved in the Long Beach Legal Professionals Association. My sister & her family and my parents live nearby in the San Fernando Valley.
