Following high school, I enrolled at the University of Minnesota, where I eventually earned a B.A., M.S. and Ph.D. (Microbiology). I left Minneapolis in 1972 to work at UCLA. After 3 years in Los Angeles, it was clear to me that this was not the city I wanted to live in, so accepted a position at the University of Cincinnati in the Biology department in 1975. I am still there educating the masses! I was divorced in 1990 and remarried in 1995 - the collective result of which is 6 children. I am back coaching soccer and all the things that dads are supposed to do for their kids. I still miss Minneapolis, and look forward to coming back next year, and also to catch up with all my old friends. |

Comment: What a strange feeling to go through the pictures and names and remember classmates who lived near me or that I danced with at the Fallwell Park dances in junior high. I graduated from The College of St. Benedict in l965. My husband (in his 47th year of teaching high school english) graduated from St. John's in 1964. My parents had 8th and 10th grade educations. I am the first and only member of my birth family that went to college. In a few days all of our four children will have advanced degrees. That is not unusual in my husband's family, but in mine it is truly a big deal. College was for me what high school was for many of you. Have a wonderful time together and tell stories. Of course, they will all be true as the Irish say. I would be remiss not to mention the five granchildren. Two live in New York and three live her in Milwaukee. Our youngest is getting married this summer so there will likely be a few more. Judi Kittleson Kearney |
